Educational and Therapeutic Consultations

Carolina Collaborative Educational Consulting assists families in navigating the many options potentially available to them to find the best fit academically, socially, and emotionally; supports them through the application process and transition period during placement, and is involved in ongoing follow-up as needed for the following types of schools/placements:


  • Wilderness/Outdoor Therapeutic Programs: Programs incorporate a variety of treatment models in the context of the wilderness. Each client is evaluated individually and  is treated with established and research driven psychoeducational practices and indiviudalized aftercare plans are developed.  Outdoor programs emphasize the promotion of self efficacy through task completion and restructuring the relationship between the client and therapist through group living. Some specialize in working with various forms of addiction while others have expertise in working with adopted adolescents or those with ADHD or Oppositional Defiance Disorder.              The benefits of choosing a wilderness program include. a dramatic change of venue for those who do not make effective progress in more traditional office-based therapy, an immersion in 24 x 7 care, a removal from multimedia distractions and other influences that impede therapeutic gains, and a careful assessment of longer-term needs to assist in making decisions on more long term placements..

  •  Therapeutic Boarding Schools:the general aim is to balance an education with a varying level of appropriate supervision and supports.Therapeutic schools offer specially designed behavioral interventions, therapy, environmental supports, and adapted curriculum to students with a number of different psychological, medical, or educational needs. Some of these needs may include Autism, ADHD, depression, substance abuse, oppositional/defiance, family conflicts, sexual abuse, computer addictions, and low self esteem to name a few.


  • Boarding SchoolsBoarding schools are available to provide college preparatory curricula to students of many learning styles and abilities. Students may have special learning needs and abilities as well as school histories ranging from under-achievement, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, and others to high achievement, strong leadership, unblemished records of attendance and grades, average experience, to superb experience.

  • Private Schools Transitional Independent Living/Young Adult ProgramsLocaReligious, secular or special interest schools. These schools serve a variety of learning styles ranging from gifted/talented to students that need specially designed instruction.                                                                                                                                                                                                            
  • Transitional Independent Living/Young Adult Programs Programs designed for individuals over 17 needing supportive environments and life skills training.  Many offer 12-step programs and have psychiatric components. They also offer educational programs linked to community colleges and universities or schools in their location. Volunteering, community service, and employment are integral parts of the programs. Many are set up as small residential models that transition into independent living apartment models.
